Quiet location but within easy reach of sights, transport and restaurants etc. Nice rooftop terrace. Comfortable beds.
That if you were staying less than three nights and wanted to use the kitchenette facilities in your studio or apartment they said they would charge 30euros. This was never indicated anywhere in the booking process and I think they should be more transparent about it; part of the attraction of the place was that we could have done our own cooking, but I did not want to if that meant I was going to be charged (too much, in my opinion) for the privilege.
Extremely helpful owner who gave us maps, directions, where to eat and where to avoid Clean rooms with a lovely view of the Piazza where the locals met in the evening. Safe area close to the Cavour Metro and we were totally at ease walking around the area of the hotel at night. There were good inepensive restuarants nearby some with music. The kitchenette was an added bonus for making breakfast, cups of tea and light meals and it was equipt with a fridge and all the pots, plates cutlery that we needed. Beds were very comfortable and shower nice and hot and they provided towels. Defintely value for money
Too close to a wonderful Gelateria which was only 2 euros for two scoops and we coudn't resist the delicious ice cream at least three times a day!
The position of the Residenza Leonina made our 4 nights fantastic
The shower in our appartment bathroom was tiny, we are not big people And it was a squeeze
Even though we arrived after 6pm (when the staff is normally gone for the evening) and they emailed us a code to get in, they still had someone waiting to greet us when we arrived and showed us to our room. A nice special touch. I found the people in Rome incredibly kind.
I ended up with a sore back from the bed which lasted the rest of my trip. However, my husband preferred the hard bed, so I guess it is a very individual thing.
Friendly; very convenient to Rome sights; independent
The kitchen facilities need more attention if they are to be useful - light did not work, no kitchen knives, no water boiler, no microwave...
The atmosphere of Residenza Leonina was perfect for the location of the city. We very much so enjoyed our stay and would go back without hesitation.
Perhaps more art work on the walls
Staff was very professional and helpful, but not particularly warm. Apartment had a very small kitchen, but well equipped for cooking, but not cleaning (no dish soap or towels). Room was cleaned once during our 4 day stay. Nice neighborhood, a little difficult to find. Walking distance to Coloseum (10 minutes) and Trevi Fountain (15 minutes).
The couch and chairs were old and saggy, not comfortable,
Good location. 150m away from subway station. A nice neighborhood, some nice restaurants with reasonable price, an icecream shop just outside hotel.
I know that it will clean your room every 3 days. I have booked by 4 nights. Unfortunately the first night the hotel had water-heat problem, it arranged us in another hotel. Then the next 3 days I stayed without cleaning. Maybe I should ask the hotel manager to do so. But I still think it should be the hotel's duty to do so. Not my fault to stay less than 3 nights. The hotel terrace is somehow exaggerated. No view at all. Still good for snacks and a rest.
WE had the only room on the 4th floor. Fun balcony great place for family hangouts. Our kids had 2 rooms on the third floor. Large rooms, nice sitting areas in all.
The spiral staircase to the fourth floor not accessible if you're older or have big luggage... but not an issue for us.
The location is brilliant. We walked from central and could easily walk to the Colosseum, the forum and other parts of ancient Rome. We also walked to Vatican City from here but it is about a 45 min walk - through the lovely streets of Rome! Mauricio at reception was outstanding! Upon arrival he upgraded our room to an apartment on the bottom floor which was great (we smoke, so could easily pop outside). He provided us with an excellent map of Rome and marked the highlights we may be interested in and briefed us on public transport. Too good. There is an award winning gelato shop outside the front door and the area has many restaurants, shops and transport options. It felt like a very safe area. The hotel also has a roof-top terrace which was nice but we did not use much. The price was great and we will stay again when in Rome. Excellent! Thanks Mauricio!
Nothing. It was perfect.
The hotel staff Maurizio Locci informed us thru email prior to our arrival (if we were arriving outside the business time), and greeted us with warmth upon our arrival at the hotel. He was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, providing us with information on Rome's landmarks and attractions. Our room was cosy, slightly smaller than expected. But with comfortable queen sized bed, fully air-conditioned. Clean, well maintained bathroom with hot water (and heated towel rails!). Basic amenities were provided (shower cap, shower gel, cotton buds). Highlight of the hotel was the rooftop terrace. Perfect for lounging after a day's walking around the city.Internet access was free and accessible from our room. But we suggest to go to the rooftop terrace for better coverage. Hotel was within walking distance to Colesseo (15 mins), Metro station Cavour (5 mins), and various eateries & restaurants are within 5-10 mins walk. The hotel location was perfect for those who like to walk around Rome. For those who drive, a nearby parking garage (Parcheggio) is within 10 mins walk at Urbana Street (EUR 30 per day). We would highly recommend Residenza Leonina to those looking for a comfy, within limited budget (EUR 100 - 120 per night) stay in Rome.
We lived in their "suite" roof top arpartment with own tereace. The apartmement had a small kitchenette, a small but ok livingroom and a nice bedroom. The terrace was super for having a late night dinner with friends or just to wind down on your own after hectic touring. The location was near everything but still not in the smack of everything which gave it a really nice combination of local and touristic. The only thing I missed was an expresso brewer in the room...
Quiet location within easy reach of sights, transport (short walk from Termini station and around the corner from Cavour metro station). Lots of restaurants nearby as well as a couple of greengrocers and a deli if you were planning on doing any cooking of your own. There was a nice rooftop terrace and two 24 hour coffee/beverage machines as well as a vending machine. Best part was that it was literally 15 metres from an amazing gelati store.
Room wasn't as clean as others and they were made up only every 3 days. However, we asked for extra supplies such as towels and toiletries, so we didn't need our room to be made up. Also, the reception is only open from 8am until 6pm. This didn't bother us but don't choose this hotel if you require a 24hr reception.
We stayed in the apartment with private terrace. The apartment was lovely, the reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The location of the hotel was fantastic, about 20 minutes walk from Termini station and 10 minutes from the colosseum. We walked to all areas of the city including the Vatican. The bedroom was slightly smaller than I expected but the storage was great. The bathroom was a good size with a bath with shower over. The local area had lots of restaurants and bars, so finding good food was not an issue.
So close to everything you would want to see in Rome. We walked everywhere. Staff were fantastic and spoke very good English.
Shower didn't drain properly and only had a hand held shower head.
